Weaponry in the game is separated into varied firearms available for use and depending on the ammo or flavor (element) of the weapon it does various damage to the mob. Each class usually has one special weapon available to it.

[edit] Usage
First of all, in order to be able to use a certain weapon, the player must have the related training. This limits each weapon to a specific class (and its subclasses).
To use a weapon, drag-and-drop it from your backpack [B] or footlocker to a slot of your weapon tray. Once it is in the tray you may select it by cycling through the weapon tray slots by pressing [Q] or the number keys [1] to [5].
Once a weapon is selected, press your left mouse button (LMB) once, or [H], to pull the weapon from the holster. Press your LMB again to fire the weapon. Some weapons require a target in order to fire.
All weapons, except the staff and the blade, require some kind of ammunition. When a weapon is out of ammo and the player fires, it will automatically reload. (Note that it does not automatically reload when the ammo count reaches zero, but when it would reach -1.) You may reload manually at any time by pressing [R].
Weapons may be holstered by pressing [H]. This will place the weapon on the back of the character, freeing both hands for visual purposes. The weapon may be re-equipped by pressing the LMB or [H] again.
Weapons may jam due to overheating when fired rapidly or due to mob abilities. As a weapon heats, the weapon icon in the weapon tray becomes increasingly red. Once completely red, the weapon may jam upon further firing. Reloading the weapon [R] will unjam it.
[edit] Acquisition
Weapons can be acquired from:
Damage types appear to be linked to the weapon levels. EMP and Laser appear at level 5, Sonic at level 11, Virulent at level 14, Electric at level 16 (15 for Polarity Gun and Net Gun, being their default damage type), and Fire and Ice at level 20.
Most weapons are not bound to your character in any way. If you find a weapon is now obsolete due to a new weapon, you can save this for another character/clone, you can give it to a friend, you can sell it, or you can dismantle it for materials at the Crafting Station. However, some unique weapons become Not Tradeable and Not Sellable after equipping them. For example, the "Big Bertha" chaingun.
[edit] Damage types and modifiers
Each weapon may comes with a variety of modifiers and Damage types. These are indicated by name prefixes. For example:
| Modifier | Damage type | Weapon | Remark |
|---|---|---|---|
| Voltrox | Laser | Pistol | Weapon has a modifier and a damage type other than physical |
| Virulent | Leech Gun | Weapon has no modifier, but has a damage type other than physical | |
| Dynamo | Rifle | If the damage type prefix is missing, the weapon causes physical damage |

Modifiers improve the attributes and resistances of the player.

[edit] Damage types

- Main article: Melee Damage
The damage type is indicated by damage type prefix. The prefix names are not 100% identical with the damage type, but usually the damage type can be concluded, for example a "Photonic" weapon causes Laser damage, a "Pulse" weapon causes EMP (electro-magnetic) damage, an "Energy" weapon causes Electric damage, a "Cryo" weapon causes Ice damage, an "Incendiary" weapon causes Fire damage, etc. If a weapon has no damage type name prefix at all, that means it causes Physical damage, which is the default. (There is no Physical damage version for Polarity Guns, Injection Guns, Netguns or Propellant Guns)
