Field Technician McCain stationed at the Staging Point in Palisades wants you to collect the current Tech Codes from a Thrax Technician and use then to reprogram a Bane Mortar at the Bane Base.

Field Technician McCain:

If we're going to survive we have to get creative. I've been monitoring the intel on the Bane Base for several days and I've noticed something peculiar. From what I can gather each of the Thrax Technicians carries with them some sort of small device that they use as an interface when performing maintenance on the Mortars guarding the base. The analysts from HQ surmise with eighty-five percent certainty that the device contains the current security codes that allow for low level access to the A.I. routines. I think we can use this to our advantage but we need better data.

So here's the plan. Find and kill a Thrax Technician anywhere in Palisades. That should be pretty easy, they are all over the front of the base. Steal the Tech Codes from the corpse and then double-time it to one of the control consoles. In theory you SHOULD be able to reprogram the mortar to attack the Bane troops surrounding the base! The in ensuing chaos will be priceless. Make sure you bring back the Tech Codes so they can be analyzed for future use.

You're back! I was watching the chaos unfold from here. I haven't laughed that hard since I landed on Foreas. The expressions on the Thrax soldiers were priceless. Good job bringing back the Tech Codes. We'll get these to HQ ASAP.

[edit] Walkthrough

Much as the mission explains, kill a Thrax Technician, loot the Tech Codes, and then find your way to the console within the Bane Base (575.8, 124.3, -617.5). Use the console and the nearby mortar will start attacking Bane. Then simply return to Field Technician McCain with the codes.

Bug! The Tech Codes are looted into the bag's Miscellaneous tab rather than the Mission tab.
