[edit] How to create and edit articles

In case you don't know yet: A wiki is a website where the users can not only read the pages, but also create new ones and modify existing ones. How great is that?! ;) All users (or "contributors", as we call them) are invited and encouraged to add and correct content! This includes wiki "newbies" just as much as wiki veterans! Even if you're not familiar yet with how a wiki works, do not hesitate to try it. Don't worry, you can't break anything. Even if you happen to mess up and delete anything important or make an error, every change is tracked and can be easily restored. Go ahead! If you struggle, one of the veterans will probably notice and leave you a message on your talk page.

So, how to edit? TaRapedia uses the MediaWiki software, which is the same software that the very well known Wikipedia, and many other wikis all over the internet uses. If you're familiar with how editing works on Wikipedia, you're all set.

The guides from Wikipedia listed in the "External Links" section of this page explain how to edit with MediaWiki. You'll see that the markup language is extremely simple and intuitive. You'll get the hang out of the basics in no time. Some things are a little more complicated (Templates, etc.), but you can leave these to the veterans until you're a little more familiar with the code yourself.

If you just want to fool around and test how wiki markup works, you may want to use the Sandbox for it, which is the agreed place for experiments and tests.
