Overview[]

The Rifle is a Recruit class weapon, requiring Training in Firearms. It's a long range single-target weapon that features high damage per shot, efficient use of ammunition and a variety of damage types. It is unquestionably the most "balanced" weapon in the game, combining speed, range, and efficiency to create an exceptionally versatile and universally powerful weapon. Fully trained, the Rifle also has the highest base critical hit chance per shot.

Usage[]

Rifles can be equipped by dragging them from your inventory to the weapon tray. Rifles benefit from beading the target and damage is increased while crouching. As with most weapons in Tabula Rasa there is no recoil and you can hold down the fire button until the magazine is empty or the weapon jams, after which you will need to reload.

The optimal range for a Rifle is 60 meters - beyond this range the damage dealt will decrease.

Notes[]

In addition to the extra damage offered by levels in Firearms training the chance of scoring critical hits will also rise. The Rifle does much more armor damage than the equivalent level of shotgun.

Although some other weapon types such as the chaingun can do far more damage per second, they also consume about four times as much ammunition to deal the same amount of damage. While useful for any character class, Rifles are especially useful in the hands of Specialists (and their various sub-classes) who still want to be able to deal decent, reliable damage at long range.

An EMP Rifle is a useful weapon to carry as it allows you to take out a Shield Drone at long range, before switching to another weapon to take down the mobs that were hiding under the shield. While any EMP weapon can perform this task, using a long range weapon like a Rifle gives you additional time to switch to another weapon before the enemies get close enough to return fire. It can also be useful when attacking Bane Mortars, as it allows you to keep your distance and avoid attracting the attention of other mobs.
