Overview[]
The Pistol is a Recruit class weapon, requiring Training in Firearms. It's a medium range single-target weapon that features a medium rate of fire, a short reload time and a variety of damage types. While it does not deal as much damage as many other weapons it does have the lowest base heat generation and can fire continuously longer than the other weapon types. Fully trained, the Pistol also has the shortest reload time of any weapon.
Usage[]
Pistols can be equipped by dragging them from your inventory to the weapon tray. Pistols benefit from beading the target and damage is increased while crouching. As with most weapons in Tabula Rasa there is no recoil and you can hold down the fire button until the magazine is empty or the weapon jams, after which you will need to reload.
The optimal range for a Pistol is 20 meters - beyond this range the damage dealt will decrease.
The Series 2 Laser Pistol fires three laser shots (consuming a total of 3 cells with a maximum capacity of 30) in a single, very quick burst with high accuracy, dealing considerable damage to enemies. It is also worth noting that the Series 2 Laser Pistol loses must re-bead between bursts like a Torqueshell Rifle, though as they reacquire quickly, it's likely that you'll end up waiting for the cooldown to end than waiting to reacquire your target.
Series 3 Laser Pistols are used in pairs. They look like Series 2 pistols, but operate more like basic pistols. They fire in alternating pairs, consuming two ammo per shot (but holding a remarkable magazine size of 60). Series 3 pistols have near-instant bead time (only slightly slower than the RPG Launcher!) and do not lose their bead between shots the way an S2 pistol does. The large magazine, decent firing rate, fast beading, low heat buildup and quick reload time all come together to form an excellent weapon.
Notes[]
Although the Pistol is a one-handed weapon it is only possible to wield one at a time. The serie 3 from Deployment 13 can be dual-wield.
