The Leech Gun is a weapon that can be used by specialists who have placed skill points in Leech Gun (training). The gun has an optimal range of 60 meters, holds a 50 round clip and fires a continuous beam of energy at its target. The leech gun is a relatively low damage weapon, but has the added benefit of awarding a portion of the damage it does directly back to the user and any nearby squad mates.
The standard leech gun uses power cells as ammunition and causes physical damage. It will damage and heal both armor and biological health. Virulent leech guns use pharmaceuticals as ammunition and directly damages the targets health, bypassing armor. Because it only damages health, it will not repair the users armor. At later levels, cryogenic and incendiary leech guns become available. These also heal both health and armor, so long as the target is not immune to the weapon's damage type.
[edit] Historical Variations
Before the leech gun became what it is today, it was known as a Density Field Gun. The weapon did much more damage than the leech gun of today, but did not heal the user or his squad. Crafting recipes applicable to density field guns may still be found in the wild, but may not be applied to the leech gun.
