A character - also known as an avatar, sometimes humorously called a "toon" - is a player's virtual in-game incarnation.
Each player may have multiple characters on one account. The maximum allowed number of characters per account per server is 16.
Each character is an individual in-game personality that may be developed by collecting experience, picking classes, equipping it with skills and abilities and with various equipment hardware such as armor, weapons and tools.
A new character may come to "life" either by creating a new one from scratch, or by cloning an existing one.
All characters of an account share a common last name.
All characters of an account have access to the shared footlocker.
